How to take Trust
Take one pill a day at about the same time, following the arrows on the pack. Start with the first light-coloured pill. After the 21 hormone pills, take the 7 brown pills. These are ferrous fumarate (iron) and contain no hormones; your withdrawal bleed usually comes during these days. Then start a new pack the next day with no gap.
When to start: the WHO handbook says you can start a combined pill within the first 5 days of your period with no extra protection, or on any other day if you are reasonably sure you are not pregnant, using condoms for the first 7 days.[src] Your pack leaflet and your doctor may give you a specific start day. Use our When am I protected? calculator to see the dates.
The most searched pill in the Philippines. The 7 brown tablets are iron (ferrous fumarate), not hormones.
If you miss a Trust pill
Trust is a 30 to 35 mcg combined pill. If you miss 1 or 2 hormone pills, take one as soon as you remember and carry on: WHO says there is little or no risk of pregnancy. If you miss 3 or more in a row, take one now, use condoms for 7 days, and if it happened in the last hormone week, skip the break or inactive pills and start a new pack.
If you had sex in the last 5 days and missed pills, talk to a doctor today about emergency options. If unsure, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.
Open the Missed Pill HelperTrust side effects and what Filipinas worry about
In the first 3 months some people get spotting between periods, sore breasts, nausea, headaches or mood changes. These usually settle.[src] Filipinas on Reddit describe everything from no change at all to feeling hungrier, which matches what trials show: big differences between individuals, no large average effect.
Nakakataba ba ang Trust pills?
The evidence says no large effect. A Cochrane review of placebo-controlled trials found no large weight change from combined pills like Trust,[src] and the NHS says there is no evidence the pill makes you put on weight.[src] Some people do notice bloating or a bigger appetite in the first months. If it bothers you after 3 months, talk to your doctor about switching. Basahin sa Taglish.
No period during the brown pills?
A light or missed withdrawal bleed is common on the pill. If you took every hormone pill on time, pregnancy is unlikely; a pregnancy test settles it. Start your next pack on time. Our late period checker walks you through it.
Nakakataba ba ang pills?Do pills make you gain weight?
Reviews of placebo-controlled trials have not found a large effect of combined pills on weight. Some people notice bloating or a bigger appetite in the first months, which usually settles. Weight changes over time with or without pills, which is why only controlled trials can answer this. The injectable (DMPA) is the one method with evidence of weight gain in some users.

What are the brown pills in Trust?
The 7 brown pills are iron (ferrous fumarate). They contain no hormones. They keep you in the daily habit and are when your withdrawal bleed usually comes.
Can I get pregnant while taking Trust pills?
It is possible but unlikely if you take every pill on time. In typical use, about 7 in 100 people on the pill get pregnant in a year, mostly because of missed pills. If you missed pills, use the Missed Pill Helper.
Can Trust pills delay your period?
Your bleed on Trust is a withdrawal bleed during the brown pills, and it can be light or skipped. That is common. If you missed pills or feel unsure, take a pregnancy test.
Can I take Trust pills even without menstruation?
The WHO handbook allows starting on any day if you are reasonably sure you are not pregnant, with condoms for the first 7 days. Ask your doctor which start suits you.

Do not decide this on your own. Dedicated emergency pills are not registered in the Philippines, and a doctor can advise you on options, including a copper IUD within 5 days. Talk to a doctor today.
