Missed Pill Helper

Missed a pill? Here is what to do.

Editorially reviewed on October 29, 2026. [TODO: medical reviewer]

Quick answer

For most combined pills (Trust, Lady, Diane-35), missing 1 or 2 pills means: take one as soon as you remember and carry on, with little or no risk. Missing 3 or more in a row (2 or more for 20 mcg pills like Yaz) means condoms for 7 days. Progestin-only pills like Daphne have a much shorter window. Pick your brand below.

How it works

We map your brand to one of the WHO Family Planning Handbook groups and apply the handbook's missed-pill guidance for that group.[src] Nothing you enter leaves your phone.

Late versus missed

For combined pills, a pill counts as missed when it is more than 24 hours late (so you are taking it 48 or more hours after the previous one). A pill that is less late than that is just late: take it now and carry on. For progestin-only pills the window is much shorter: 3 hours for lynestrenol pills like Daphne, 12 hours for desogestrel pills like Cerazette.

Vomiting and diarrhoea

If you vomit within 2 hours of a hormone pill, take another one from your pack as soon as you can. Vomiting or diarrhoea for more than 2 days counts as missed pills for those days.[src]

If you had sex in the last 5 days

Talk to a doctor today about emergency options. Dedicated emergency pills are not registered in the Philippines, and a copper IUD fitted within 5 days is the most effective option.[src] See emergency contraception in the Philippines.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if you miss birth control pills for 2 days?

For 30 to 35 mcg combined pills like Trust, Lady and Diane-35, WHO says take one pill as soon as you remember and carry on, with little or no risk. For 20 mcg pills like Yaz, 2 missed pills means using condoms for 7 days. For progestin-only pills, use condoms for 2 days.

I missed 1 Trust pill. Am I still covered?

WHO says missing 1 or 2 combined pills carries little or no risk if you take one as soon as you remember and keep going. Take it now, even if it means 2 pills in one day.

Do I need to take the brown pills?

The brown pills in packs like Trust are iron, not hormones. Missing them does not affect protection, but taking them keeps you in the daily habit.
